Pinzimini

Today I am finishing up posting about San Diego's restaurant week. Unfortunately our rounds were cut short by the flu.
Romantic TipWhen your love is sick, take some extra time to make things as comfortable as possible. Make sure there are plenty of liquids available and offer to put together a simple meal, like toast and soup. If your partner is like me, they won't ask for help, so just do it so they don't have to.

Our last stop was at Pinzimini. Pinzimini is located in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter in the new Westin Gaslamp Quarter lobby. Conveniently 2 blocks from our loft. My sister was in town and was able to dine with us. What a treat!
When we were seated, we were brought a lovely basket of bread with the finest balsamic and olive oil for dipping.

first course you get a choice of
Antipasti - selection of prosciutto, cured sausages, cheeses and olives

Mushroom Flat Bread drizzled with truffle oil

Spinach Artichoke Fonduta  asiago, grilled bread
My favorite was the flatbread. We all shared so we got to taste everything and it was wonderful!

Next were our entree's. The 3 dishes we chose were:
Seafood Pasta-saffron emulsion, shrimps, scallops, mussels, fresh herbs.
My sister chose Cavatappi Pasta-asparagus, roasted yellow tomato, portobello cream
Next up Penne Pasta- italian sausage, broccoli, red pepper flakes, parmesan, pomodoro sauce

Everything was divine. We all brought some home because we wanted to save room for the dessert.
Tiramisu- mascarpone, coffee and Kahlua
 and Citrus Cheesecake
To sum it up, if you are in town for restaurant week in San Diego, this is the spot. Evidently the news isn't out because it was pretty empty. We had made reservations to be safe but we were one of the few tables full in the place. I would assume that pretty soon the word will get out though, so be sure to call and make reservations.

Their $30 italian dinner was to die for and we will be going back for more.
